happy new year!
Okay, firstly: Happy new year 2009 to all of you!
I´m not a friend of New Year´s pledges..but next year will be very exiting! I will study in another city and really have for the first time of my life the chance to act autonomic; and therefore I just want to underline the importance of patience and satisfaction. And peace. Because peace is the fundament of living together within civilisation..
Let´s close the year with the wonderful Freja and the expressive Cole.

both are blond.freja and agyness.
a young generation called sykur.
Of late, Reykjavik has been outdoing itself in proffering a veritably groaning selection of creative confectionary; much to the benefit of the sweet teeth and slavering imaginations of the world’s culture vultures. But now, plucked from the top drawer, there is a morsel of such rare succulence that it is sure to gain attention even beyond the cordoning velvet rope that sequesters the art world’s N.I.P (Nearly Important People). Sykur (meaning Sugar) are a nascent 3 piece electro group (Stefán, Halldór and Kristján are 16, 17 and 19 respectively) whose tracks are sweet and fun enough to warrant pleated, waxen presentation cases (by Gazed Digital)

prada menswear by slimane.
Prada is giving a whole new spin to its men’s wear ad campaign for Spring with the help of former Dior Homme designer Hedi Slimane.Like a lot of TFS visitors I´m a little bit disappointed...Slimane is replacing Meisel...
This is the first time Slimane has worked with Prada on such a project. Slimane, who resumed his photography career following his exit from Dior last year, took black and white portraits of Louis and Claude Simonon, sons of Paul and Tricia Simonon, the bass player and manager of Punk band The Clash. In a statement, Prada said the brothers were photographed “in moments of reflection and introspection. It is a symbolic yet understated approach to desire in men’s wear; a new classicism with a rebel edge.” The Simonons are still in school in England and neither have previously modeled before or worked with Slimane. The artist has strong ties to the music world and published a photography book entitled, “Rock Diary,” earlier this year. (WWD)

somekind of skirt and harem.
Yesterday I saw the Harem-trouser by LOST IN FASHION.
I really like the form; and compared with "normal" trousers it´s definitley unusual but comfortable.
According to LIF you are able to see lots of people wearing the trouser in Denmark. Yeah Denmark. One of the Skandinavians, which is the ascending meeting point for fashion and lifestyle. Here in Germany I haven´t seen neither men nor women who put it on. But the summer will come fast..

permanent vacation.poetical sin.
"Tired of all impractical pretensions in fashion today, PERMANENT VACATION are inspired by the classic gentleman's way of dressing; dapper, shapely, comfortable and useful, garments aimed to love, wear out and repair.

time for new ads.diesel.
“There are no messages, themes or commentary to understand,” explained Diesel creative director Wilbert Das of the hipster take on David Lynch. “Our objective is to intrigue and provoke a thought.” As for fall, Das worked with Stockholm-based ad agency FarFar on the new campaign.Diesel is continuing its surrealistic direction in its ads for spring, which will break in February magazines, including GQ, Details, Flaunt and Nylon, as well as outdoors in major cities like New York and L.A. Using black-and-white images shot by John Scarisbrick, the ads center on darkly enigmatic scenes such as an elderly foot fetishist worshipping model Jon Kortajarena’s Diesel high-top sneakers or a ramshackle apartment filled with cats. Rock progeny Alexandra Richards makes a cameo in one of the ads, which were photographed at 1896 Studios in Brooklyn.

101.bois and dykes.
"Bois and Dykes is a long-term documentary series that examines the concept of ‘feminine masculinity’ by visually telling the stories of people who live within a spectrum of identities ranging from dyke and butch, to tomboy, aggressive, and transgender."
I discovered this interesting series from Sophia Wallace a few weeks ago.
And I must admit: It´s calm and meaningful..honest.
Especially the comments below the picture of Sophias homepage.
It´s a controversial theme, not only in the United States..so it´s important that there are people who wants to explain.

extreme. but what is extrem.
This is an editorial from Mario Testino for the V Man Magazine.
After I looked at them for the first time, I thought: Okay, nothing special.
Nothing special, because in the fashion industry you will always have such a diversity of appereances and characters. And nothing special, because Testino plays with stereotypes you are able to find in the fashion business.
But sometimes it´s the detail you should consider. So it´s not always the way you look which makes you interesting. It´s your internal captivation or your positive aura. And with these different ways to depict masculinity Testino shows not only the diversity but also the different ways to express the feeling you have to break free from a "stigmatized" world you are not really belong to.
And that´s why it is worth to be seen...
